The Office of the Supreme Leader

The leader in the gathering of intimacy with the Quran on the first day of the Ramadan:

Leader Advises Daily Quran Reading of At Least One Page for All

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution this afternoon on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan and in the luminous gathering of intimacy with the Quran, which was held in the presence of a number of reciters and distinguished teachers and Quranic activists, called for the mixing of Quran recitation sessions with translation and interpretation of verses to convey Quranic concepts and themes to listeners and influence them. He called on specialists and Quranic activists to strive to find ways to accomplish this important issue.

Ayatollah Khamenei thanked the Almighty Allah for Iran's enjoyment of the blessing of having many prominent reciters who read well, read correctly and are familiar with good recitation methods and said: According to reports, the growth of the Quran index in the country is more than all other indices, which is a source of deep satisfaction.

He considered Quran reciters to have a prominent and honourable mission and position due to conveying Allah's message to people's hearts and added: Listening and hearing the Quran is an obligatory and necessary act of faith in Allah and a means of attracting divine mercy, which provides the possibility of contemplation and reflection on divine verses. Therefore, seriousness must be had in reciting and listening to the Quran.

The Leader of the Revolution advised people in this regard to act in such a way that they read at the very least one page of the Quran every day.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered our people's unfamiliarity with the language of the Quran as an obstacle to understanding Quranic concepts and emphasized: Specialists and Quranic activists must find ways for this issue so that the excellent contents of verses also reach the ears of recitation listeners.

He emphasized that mosques must be transformed into bases for promoting recitation, listening to the Qur'an, and presenting interpretations of recited verses.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the Qur'an a book of wisdom, lesson, and life and said: The Holy Qur'an is full of foresight and wisdom in all personal, familial, social, governmental, and even international relations; thus, serious attention must be paid to learning and applying these lessons. Fortunately, today all necessary infrastructure for this matter is available.

The Leader of the Revolution also advised reciters to recite "influentially" and said: The goal of some recitations is just singing, as can be seen in some recitations by some outside reciters; they are more concerned with showing off their tones and recitation methods to their listeners through beautiful music and through being active, which is not a desirable recitation

He considered the goal of a desirable recitation to be its impact on the audience. He said: In this type of recitation, from the very beginning, your intention should be to influence the audience, in which case the reciter himself must first be influenced by reading the Quran.

Ayatollah Khamenei considered the appropriate and non-excessive use of some Quranic recitation techniques to be acceptable for influencing listeners and, by emphasizing that Quranic recitation is a great and combined art, addressed the reciters and said: Be aware that with whichever tone you recite, do so with the intention of influencing the listener.

At the end of this ceremony, Maghrib and Isha prayers were set up under the leadership of the Islamic Revolution Leader.
